Abandoned Rock Quarry

I photographed this abandon rock quarry early one morning while wondering around October Mountain state forest in Western Massachusetts. Upon seeing the photographs, I became facinated by the modeling clay-like texture of the exposed rock. Abstract and complex shapes form compositions that look as if they were drawn with pastels. This started off a kind of obsession with capturing as many unique compositions that exist within a particular landscape, naturally formed or not. By framing particular sections and shooting close-up, I end up with these very aesthetically pleasing images that are more like paintings and drawings.
